Son of Theodore and Augusta Brown Dickinson, both born in New York. His parents both went to California with their parents during the Gold Rush, c1849. His mother was one of the first school teachers in Northern California, and his father was a carpenter and contractor. He worked in mining and ranching until 1893, when he came to Tempe.
When he first arrived in Tempe he worked as a carpenter, until he went to work for the B. W. Blinn Lumber Company. He later became manager of the store, and held that positon even after the Valley Lumber Co. purchased the business. He was manager of the J. D. Halstead Lumber Yard in Chandler for a few years, then moved back to Tempe to manage the Halstead yard here. He died suddenly at his desk in the office of the J. D. Halstead Lumber Co. in Tempe.
Member of Knights of Pythias, Uniform Rank, Modern Woodmen of America and the Mystic Circle.
Lived at Mill and 8th Street; moved to 129 E. 8th Street, c1910-1919; also listed as living on 6th Street in 1910; moved to 113 E. 6th Street, c1920, 21; moved to 110 E. 7th Street, c1920.
