ASU art professor.

Dropped out of high school at age 15 after the death of his father. Lived for a while in Los Angeles and was promotion artist and art editor for the Los Angeles Examiner. Met his wife, Helen O'Connor, while attending night school in Los Angeles. After a

brief stint with a Seattle, Washington, advertising agency, he and his wife moved to New York in the fall of 1930, where he earned his reputation as an artist. They stayed in New York for seven years.

Returned to Tempe, c1937, and taught art at ASU for 38 years, retiring in 1975.

Lived at 922 S. Forest Avenue in 1940; lived at 1414 W. Southern Avenue, c1948-1968.
