BiographyMoved to Arizona in 1925. Enrolled at Arizona State Teachers College in 1930. He worked his way through college as a part-time employee in the business office. Received a B.A. degree in business administration in 1935. In 1936, he became an instructor of business administration at ASTC, and also served as head of the University business office. Became the college's first Business Secretary in 1939. After five years service in the armed forces he returned to ASC as Comptroller in 1946. He became Vice President for Business Affairs in 1957. When he retired, he had a total of 30 years of
service to ASU.
He also had a brief but distinguished military career.
In 1941, he was called to military service as a reserve officer. Reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Was overseas for 37 months during World War II, in the Inspector General's branch of the Army, assigned to the Middle East, Persian Gulf Command. He helped with planning and security precautions for the Teheran Conference of Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin in 1943. He was later executive officer for the joint Army-Navy Liquidation Commission which was charged with disposal of overseas properties and equipment. His five years of military duty also included service in Australia, New Zealand, and India, and ended with his ssignment as executive officer of the joint Army-Navy State Department Overseas Property Disposal Commission in Washington, D.C., and in Cairo, Egypt.
Member of the Association of University and College Business Officers, Shalimar Country Club, Kiva Club, Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, and the Newcomen Society in North America. He was on the board of directors of the Tempe Chamber of Commerce. In 1952, he was awarded the "Alummni Service Award" of the ASU Alumni Association for outstanding service to the university.
Lived at 44 E. 14th Street; lived at 222 E. 8th Street in 1940.
