BiographyHistory and Civics Professor at Tempe Normal School/Arizona State Teachers College, 1914-1936.
U.S. Congressman, 1937-1952.
Graduated from Missouri State Teachers College, with an MA , in 1925, and received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.In 1930 was a teacher at AZ State Teachers College. He was Dean at ASU, c1934-1936.
Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1936; served as Chairman of the House Committee on Public Lands. Many of his personal papers were lost in a Scottsdale flood. After leaving Congress, he turned to writing and research.
Owned 9 acres in section 16, in 1924.
Lived at 1102[1110] Van Ness Avenue in 1921, -'25, -'26, '28, '29, '30, '31, '32
