BiographyObstetrician; Chief of Staff of Desert Samaritan Hospital.
Graduated from Arizona State Teachers College in 1935; received his MA from the University of Southern California in 1938, and his MD from Baylor in 1943.
Taught health and physical education in the Phoenix Union High School system prior to admission into medical school. Served as a medical doctor in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Served 11 years on the Tempe Elementary School District Board, acting as president, clerk, and member. Offices he held included president of Arizona Blue Cross/Blue Shield, vice president of the Arizona Medical Association, member of the Arizona School Board Association Board of Directors, and second vice president of the National School Boards Association. Member of the Rotary Club.
In 1984, he was the first recipient of the Don Carlos Humanitarian Award in recognition of more than 25 years of volunteer support of education as a former member of Tempe Elementary School District's board and the Arizona Board of Regents.
