DescriptionGroup of men in front of a machine. Written on back "Charles Steele's threshing outfit early 1920's on left Charles Steele 3 Art Meredith father of Frank, Lucile Pyle donated picture." Hundreds of Farms surrounded Tempe and they provided endless opportunitites for the enterprising businessmen. Threshing machine owners would hire workers and contract with farmers to harvest their grain. Usually a cook and a cook shack accompaning the machine and crews furnished meals for the men.
