DescriptionFrom an article published by Tempe Daily News, December 6, 1971:'M-16' - ROTC cadets are instructed in the care and handling of the Army's best infantry weapon to date - the M-16 rifle. In the photo above a member of the ASU 'elite troops,' the Desert Rangers, instructs a cadet in the proper method of holding the rifle. The Army substituted the M-1 for the M-14 back in the early 60's, but the M016 is getting most of the work in Vietnam and troops must learn how to use it.
The film negative of this photograph is housed in box 2G7-A.
