DescriptionFrom an article published by Tempe Daily News, April 2, 1977:Buried Treasure -
Work at ASU archaeological excavation near McClintock and Broadway where ancient HoHoKam burial grounds were uncovered by construction workers last week progresses in various stages here. In foreground, one student painstakingly brushes dirt from exposed skeleton while immediately behind other students are just uncovering a second burial site. At right center a coed is just beginning the work of digging into what may be another burial site and to the left of her, student gingerly brushes dirt away from a piece of pottery. Overseeing the work (standing left) is Dr. Fred Plog, anthropology professor, and in far background, another student is sifting sand for shreds of "clues" to the mystery of the HoHoKam.
