A major objective of the Escalante Senior Citizens Center is assuring that elderly, lower-income Tempeans get at least one, good nutritional meal a day - something that older citizens, particularly those living alone, all too often neglect. But feeling useful is often just as important to a senior, so Escalante’s nutrition program participants are encouraged to help too. Here Adelina Araiza serves lunch to fellow senior Carmen Huerta. Seniors also set tables, do cleanup work after meals.
