DescriptionFrom an article and photograph published in Tempe Daily News, November 25, 1977:

When Neal Replogle receives his Eagle Scout award in ceremonies November 29 at the Community Christian Church, presenting the award will be the doctor who delivered him six weeks after his parents moved to Arizona in 1964.

Dr. William G. Payne, Tempe physician who is also president of the Theodore Roosevelt Council, Boy Scouts of America, will be making the Eagle presentation to Neal, so of Dr. and Mrs. John Replogle, 412 East Alameda. A member of Troop 72, under Scoutmaster Herb Paule, Neal began his five years of scouting as a Cub Scout. He has earned merit badges in areas including computers, skiing, drafting, camping, and railroading and has earned several awards in citizenship, academic achievement and music. He served as a patrol leader for eight months and in scout leadership corps for one year. Neal belongs to the Order of Arrow honorary scout camping group. At McKemy Junior High School, he plays clarinet in the Honor Band and is member of the Science Club. He also plays piano.
His first love is outdoor camping by boat or back packing, but he also enjoys reading, tennis and swimming and has been on an AAU swimming team for two years. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church Junior High Group. Neal has traveled in 49 of the 50 states and will join his family for a tour in Europe next summer, expecting to camp in Italy and Switzerland. The scout hopes to pursue a career in some field of engineering.
