DescriptionRelated to an article (Mount Carmel To Raise Funds) and photo caption (Digging In) appearing in Tempe Daily News, February 25, 1978:

Digging In - Priests at Tempe-Mesa Catholic Church of the Resurrection donned hard hats and turned-to with shovels to help in official groundbreaking to launch $357,000 building project at that church, 3201 South Evergreen road, last Sunday. Shovels of (from left) Rev. Harry O'Donnell, Rev. Blane Brehany and Resurrection pastor Rev. Philip J. Poirier appear to be turning dirt a lot faster than that of architect Francis Schulz! Building project will add social center, education building, new wing to administration area and volleyball and basketball courts to double as parking space. Father Poirier's shovel, incidentally, was given to him on occasion of Resurrection's first groundbreaking in 1971 by King of Glory Lutheran Church pastor, Rev. Gordon King, and it says "we dig Catholics!"

The film negative of this photograph is housed in box 2G8-A.
