DescriptionFrom a photograph caption appearing in Tempe Daily News March 11, 1978:

Shiny Treasure For A Museum - Arizona State University's new Museum of Geology will have one of the few Foucault Pendulums in the United States when installation is completed for what looks like a giant shiny Christmas tree ornament in photo above. Complete with steel wire and the 238 pound polished brass ball, the pendulum will be six stories high - and its swinging will show observers the rotation and spinning movements of the earth. Students in background are viewing the ball from behind glass of the earth. Students in background are viewing the ball from behind glass of recently completed F Wing foyer in the museum.
