DescriptionFrom a photograph caption appearing in the Monday, April 17, 1978 issue of Tempe Daily News:Lots Of Curious People - Crowds of the curious kept lines long at Tempe's historic old Petersen House at Southern and Priest, Saturday and Sunday, as Tempe Historical Museum Docents hosted a "Petersen House Tour" to raise funds for the city's museum in the Tempe Community Center Complex. Built in the late 1800s for pioneer Niels Petersen and his family, the Victorian-style territorial house has always attracted the curious - but the weekend offered most folks the first opportunity to see the interior of the grand old home. Docents estimated over 2,000 people toured the house and enjoyed entertainment and demonstrations of old-fashioned weaving and spinning, square dancing, solar oven cooking and other features. See Howard Pyle column elsewhere on Page 1; and additional photo on page 2.
