DescriptionFrom a photo caption appearing on the front page of the Tempe Daily News for Monday, June 19, 1978:

Fiesta Coming - Sharing a huge sombrero to let it be known that another Let's Share America Festival is coming up in Tempe this fall are four young ladies who will be vying for Fiesta Queen for that event - (l to r) Lorene Martinez and Yolanda Martinez, both of Tempe; Mireya Valenzuela, of Chandler; and Connie Bello of Tempe. Though the festival, sponsored annually at Escalante Community Center here by the Escalante Cultural Chamber, isn't on the calendar until October 1, work of raising funds to finance it is already underway. And the queen candidates will be doing their part by staging a benefit dance on July 8 at the immaculate Heart gymnasium, Ninth Street and Washington, Phoenix. Don your "sombrero" and come along, they invite, for Mexican food, entertainment and dancing to the music of two orchestras, all at a small $2 per person cost for a ticket.

The film negative of this photograph is housed in box 2G8-B.
