DescriptionFrom a photo caption appearing in the Friday, July 28, 1978 issue of Tempe Daily News:Boost For Achievers - Junior Achievement programs in Tempe and the rest of the Valley got a big boost from Combined Communications Corporation when Ray Cox (left), a vice president of CCC and a member of the board of Tempe Chamber of Commerce, presented checks totaling $5,000 from the corporation to assist with JA programs. Cox presented $2000 to Tempe Chamber of Commerce, which oversees the Junior Achievement program for high school student in Tempe. Another $3000 went to Central Arizona Chapter of JA. Accepting check for Tempe's Junior Achievement program are Vi Parenteau, the program's chief advisor here; and Tempe Chamber President Pen Johnson. Through JA, teens learn about the free enterprise system by "doing" - forming and running their own companies.
