DescriptionFrom a photo caption appearing on the front page of Tempe Daily News, Saturday, September 2, 1978:Governor Tours Downtown - Arizona Governor Bruce Babbitt, second from left, toured Tempe's downtown redevelopment district yesterday. Babbitt spent the day in Tempe to attend functions during Arizona State University's Governors Day. Local officials, from left Mayor Harry Mitchell; Lance Ross, ASU student body president; and John Benton, member of downtown developers Five M Associates, walked with the governor. The group spent time looking at Michael Goodwin's retail-office complex on the west side of the 400 block of Mill Avenue.
Additional note - conspicuously displayed above this group of gentleman is the entrance sign of The Spaghetti Company (newly opened in a new building at the southwest corner of Mill Ave. and 4th Street). The silos of the Hayden Flour Mill are visible in the righthand background.
