DescriptionFrom a photo caption in Tempe Daily News, September 9, 1978:30 Years Of Barbering And Teaching - Jan Brannan came to Tempe with $8 in his pocket after losing his wife and fighting a winning battle with alcoholism, and a few years later met future wife Geraldine, who had come to Tempe to make a living for her three children following her husband's death. And since then, it's all been uphill for the pair who have shared their lives and families since 1959. Before retiring, Jan was a Tempe barber for 30 years, and Geraldine was a teacher in Kyrene and Tempe schools for a like number of years. Jan has come out of retirement though; he's now in real estate.
