DescriptionSerenade in rag-time, from Tempe Daily News, October 23, 1985 - Tempe Eastern Star Worthy Matron Patricia Powell, sporting a Raggedy Ann costume, got a suprise at her chapter's recent dress-up "Friendship Day" at Tempe Masonic Temple. Powell didn't want anyone to know it was also her birthday, but a friend had other ideas. She hired Marcos de Niza High School band members to surprise Powell with a boisterous but musical "Happy Birthday" serenade. Under new band director John Clement, the Marcos de Niza band is raising money for a trip by hiring itself out to play for birthday parties and other events.The film negative of this photograph is housed in box 2G8-F.
