DescriptionLarge binder with newspaper clippings and internal monthly department newsletter, "In-The-News" and reports from 8/1991-12/1993 collected by Shirley Blanton, the donor, who was married to Ralph Blanton, Tempe Fire Chief. The items are related to the activities of the Tempe Fire Department, its firemen and paramedics as well as newspaper clippings of general interest. Included in the stories are one about the death of a Mesa college student, Brent Trenary, who drowned in the Salt River in Tempe while trying to save his dog (3/15/92), a home that burned in June 1992 in the Tally Ho subdivision where residents chose not to become part of Tempe, with later articles in the binder discussing the home owners' decision to allow annexation.Status
