DescriptionFrom an article printed in the Tempe Daily News, April 17, 1971:

FAITH OF OUR FATHERS DAY - will be the second of Tempe's Centennial Days; tomorrow, as Tempeans pay tribute to the role of churches in the community's history. Many churches will be making individual note of the city's in their own regular Sunday schedule. And many Tempe church people will be joining in the community old-fashioned Hymn and Patriotic Sing to be held at 8 p.m. Sunday in Sun Devil Stadium. Bill Payne, Jr, (right), who'll direct the sing confers on hymn selections with Rev. Daniel McCready, of Mt. Carmel church, co-chairman with Rev. Guy Davidson of Grace Community church, for Faith of our Fathers Day. Others on the committee include George Dana, president of Tempe Stake, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dr. Paul Gaston, pastor of First Congregational church, and Mrs. Alice Spooner, of Tempe Church, Women United.
