DescriptionFrom an article/photograph appearing in Tempe Daily News, July 1977:

Wrapping It Up -

The USA's nearly two-year-long Bicentennial Celebration has been over for a spell - and a gala one it was too, but Bicentennial Commissioners from the national level on down have been kept busy wrapping up their work - writing final reports, assessing results and sending out a lot of "thank you" notes and appreciation certificates. Arizona's Bicentennial Commission chairman Dr. John Carney (left), a Tempe resident, was doing part of that wrapping-up work when he attended Tempe Historical Society meeting last week to present that group's new president Howard Pyle (right), and over 80 other members of Tempe's Bicentennial Commission, with appreciation plaques. Pyle and Art Livingston were co-chairmen for Tempe's celebration of the USA's 200th birthday.

The film negative of this photograph is housed in box 2G7-D.
