City of Tempe United Way campaign division chairman Jim Casey (right) had special reasons for having Tempe Police Officer Gary Lindberg (left) and Detective Erich Schoenfeld as his guests at UW Campaign progress report luncheon this week. Casey's city division in the campaign had reached 115 percent of its goal at this time last year - but nearly 10 percent behind in its expanded goal. And, said Casey, "we wouldn't be within striking distance of the goal" except for the special efforts of his two guests.
