DescriptionFrom a photo caption appearing in Tempe Daily News, Tuesday, March 14, 1978:Thanks--For The Walk! - Marlene Ward (center), district director of Project Concern, came all the way from SanDiego to join in saying "thank you" last week to nearly 30 local youth and civic groups for their participation in Tempe's first annual Walk for Mankind to benefit Project Concern this past fall. Marlene was guest speaker for an "Appreciation Happening" held last week to thank the 1977 walkers. She also met with Carolyn Brown (right), 1977 Tempe Walk director, and Sandee Streech (left), Tempe Junior Woman's Club walk coordinator, to discuss plans for the 1978 Walk for Mankind.
