DescriptionA black and white photo of an aerial view of farm land taken from Hayden Butte. Buildings as well as a small number of trees can be seen as well.

Hayden Flour Mill and the complex of structures and facilties across the street - which includes the Hayden House (with a second story added) - is visible along Mill Avenue in lower half of the photo. Maricopa & Phoenix Railroad bridge visible in middle distance at right over Salt River. Other commercial and residential structures lie to the south of the Hayden Mill/Hayden House complex, with the Blinn Lumber Yard at the lower left corner.
To the north - right - of the Flour Mill are the adode walls that remain from a structure that burned around 1894/1895 which housed facilities including a blacksmith, carpenter, worker housing and at one time, the Tempe Daily News newspaper (before that office moved to 4th Street and Maple).

Barely visible amongst the two large trees south - left - of the Mill is Tempe's calaboose (jail house).
