DescriptionA photo taken from the west side of McClintock Drive. The photo shows one of the tourist cabins surrounded by trees. The donor's wife, Marion Margrat is on the stairs.
From Vicky Bader Dempsey: This was my Grandfather's place. His name was Claude Layton. My mother was 2 when they moved there from Weston, MO. The one room cabins were rented out to migrant workers. My Grandmother would sell eggs and fresh butter and there was a barn and pasture in the back. The store (shown in the picture) was stocked with canned goods, candy and soda. All transactions were done on brown wrapping paper by hand. The store closed in 1966 and my Grandfather died in 1973. The address was 909 McClintock, between Apache Blvd and University.

By the early 1970s there were Quonset huts on the property that were rented as housing and it was known as a place where hippies would live.
