My dear sister's daughter [niece]
We have received your letter of June 27 it took about three months to get here. It saddens me very much that you are not in good health but I hope you are doing better after you have received medical treatment/doctor treatment. I am thinking Finsen's Light Institute is good for the illness you write you have and I hope you soon will get your health back again and stay with your children but if not then I hope you will go to a better home by our Savior he died for our sins and I hope you will be prepared when that time comes that you may go to a better home. How are you doing financially? Is the farm very indebted? I would be happy to send you money if you need it, but it seems hard to send it as long as the war is going on but it looks like there soon will be peace. Germany has had enough of the war and America England France and Italy will make them pay retribution for all the atrocities they have done to Belgium and France and other places. Let me know as soon as possible about your health and if you are in need of anything I will if possible send money to you. How old is Enevold now? Would it not be better he stayed at home and helped you with the work? It seems that times are a little rough in Denmark but I see the United States through a ? ?(can not read 2 words) certain commodities/raw materials and food that Denmark really needs so it seems times are a little better for you, and I hope when there will be peace that Denmark will get a part of North Slesvig back as far back south as the population wish.
Lastly your mother's sister [aunt] and I send loving greetings to you all, and to all relatives and friends
Your mother's brother [uncle]
Niels Petersen
