Moved to Oklahoma as a child in 1923. Graduated from Central Oklahoma State College in 1937.
Taught high school business classes, c1937-1939, and worked at the South-Western Publishing Company, c1939-1942.
In June of 1942 he was commissioned in the Supply Corps of the U.S. Naval Reserves, and served with amphibious forces in the South Pacific for 16 months.
After his military service, enrolled at Oklahoma State University to complete his Master's degree in business. In June of 1946, he joined the OSU faculty, and eventually became director of the School of Intensive Business Training in the division of Commerce. He became Dean of the School of Business in 1952. Received his Doctorate in Business Administration in 1954.
Came to Arizona State University as the Dean of the College of Business Administration.
He was a charter member of the Board of Directors of the Phoenix Charter of the American Marketing Association; member of the American Controllers Institute. He was certified for labor arbitration by the American Arbitration Association and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.
