Came to Tempe c1875.
When he came to Tempe in 1875, he had left lands in San Miguel Horcasitas, Sonora. He brought peach tree seedlings to establish an orchard in the Salt River Valley. After his widowed daughter married William Osborn, an Anglo sugar cane grower, Osborn and Gonzales boiled sugar cane into panocha (brown sugar cakes) and preserved peaches with molasses, which they marketed locally.
