BiographyCame to Tempe by train in 1887. His family later joined him in Tempe. Barkeeper for D. C. Smith in 1892. He opened the Lone Star Saloon at 13 W. 4th Street (later known as the Laird and Dines Saloon and Laird Apartments). He purchased Tempe's first drugstore from J. J. Hudson in 1898 and started a partnership with Dr. J. A. Dines that would later become the oldest family-operated business in Tempe.
Lived at 804 S. Farmer Avenue. 815 Farmer Ave in 1921,'23, 813 Farmer Ave in 1925, 1926,-'28. 829 Farmer Ave in 1930. Mayor of Tempe.
