Came to Tempe in 1887.
Attended Tempe Normal School and Lamson Business College. Studied pharmacy science under Dr. J. A. Dines and his brother, Hugh, and received his pharmacy license c190, '28.
Was an active partner with his brothers, Hugh and Claude, in the Laird and Dines Drugstore.in 1921, -'25, '29, '30, '31, '32..
Served on the Tempe School District Governing Board for seven years, and was president of the board in 1920, 21..
He was a member of the Tempe Civic Club and Knights of Pythias, and was one of founders of Tempe Beach Park and Pool.
Named Citizen of the Year by American Legion in 1954.
