BiographyFarmer, Grocery owner. Rancher in 1928. Cotton buyer in 1925, 1929, -'30.
Came to Tempe in 1891.
Graduated from the Territorial Normal School in 1894 and taught school for a year in the Rural School. In 1902 he and his brother joined their father in a family grocery store in Tempe. He became a partner with his brother, John, in the Birchett Brothers Grocery, which he operated from 1904 until his retirement in 1919, due to heart problems. After retiring, he bought and sold cotton (in 1925, '30). With his brother, John, established a dairy on the family ranch on East University Drive.

In 1924, he owned N2 SE4 section 23, N & E of the railroad (73 acres), NE4 NE4and S2 NE4 section 24 (117 acres), SE4 section 13, S of the river (149 acres) and E2 NE4 section 22 T.1 S.,R.4 E. (75 acres).
Mayor of Tempe, June 13, 1912 - June 11, 1914.
Tempe Councilman, 1912-1916 and 1930-1932.
He was a director of the Tempe National Bank in 1931, '32.
He lived at 202 E. 7th Street. In 1921 [1923, 1925, '28, '29, '30, '31 ] , -'32 lived at 600[609]Forest Ave
