Came to Tempe in 1888.
Tempe City Councilman, 1906-1908, 1910-1914, and 1916-1922.
With his brothers, James C. and Robert G. Goodwin, helped build six miles of canal known as the Kyrene Ditch or Orange Belt Canal, which opened up a new farming district, known as the Kyrene district. He was a date grower in 1920,'21, '23, '31, '32..
With his brothers, he helped establish a street car line in Tempe. They also secured a right of way for the Southern Pacific Railroad from Phoenix to Mesa. He and his brother, William, went into the grocery business in a building on the northeast corner of 4th Street and Mill. He was one of the donors that contributed to a fund to purchase the site for the Territorial Normal School in 1885.
He was a shareholder in the Tempe Irrigating Canal Company in 1923. He owned 9 acres in section 23 in 1924. Memberof City Council in 1928.
He was a member of Woodmen of the World lodge.
In 1926, -'28, -'29, -'30 was a rancher farmer, lived at 517 E. 8th Street, c1909-1926, '28, '29, '30, '31, '32. In 1932 had wife, Ollie
