BiographyCame to Tempe in 1908.
After the death of her father, she came to Tempe with her mother and two brothers. They were met at the train station by Curt Miller, a friend of her uncle, Oliver Geer. (In 1944, Curt Miller's grandson sold the Tempe Daily News to her daughter and son-in-law, Frank and Irma Connolly.) She played piano accompaniment for the silent movies shown at the Menhennet Theater. She was one of the first students to receive a scholarship to attend the Normal School. She attended but did not graduate, because she left school to marry John Preston Brooks in 1912. She was a clerk-typist at Williams Air Force Base during World War II and continued to work there until the late 1940s.
