BiographyCame to Tempe in 1908.After the death of her father, she came to Tempe with her mother and two brothers. They were met at the train station by Curt Miller, a friend of her uncle, Oliver Geer. (In 1944, Curt Miller's grandson sold the Tempe Daily News to her daughter and son-in-law, Frank and Irma Connolly.) She played piano accompaniment for the silent movies shown at the Menhennet Theater. She was one of the first students to receive a scholarship to attend the Normal School. She attended but did not graduate, because she left school to marry John Preston Brooks in 1912. She was a clerk-typist at Williams Air Force Base during World War II and continued to work there until the late 1940s.
