BiographyPastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Tempe, 1895.
Came to Tempe in 1895.
He was a German Franciscan.
With a growing number of Anglo Catholics joining the
predominantly Hispanic congregation at the time, he saw the opportunity to bring the Mexican and the Anglo communities together to build a new church. He bought two lots at the corner of Eighth Street and Willow (now University Drive and College Avenue) and in 1902, they began building the new church. The new St. Mary's/Mount Carmel Church was dedicated in 1903.
He also started missions in Scottsdale and Guadalupe with the help of volunteer labor from both the Mexican-American and Anglo communities.
