DescriptionFrom an article/photograph published in Tempe Daily News, May 20, 1977:

Wrapping Up A Year -

And it was a good year, too, for the Tempe Association for Retarded Citizens. Proof of that is the plaque being admired by outgoing president Maria Bennewitz (standing center), presented to her during TARC's annual May Brunch held Tuesday morning at Jolly Roger restaurant. The plaque earlier was presented the Tempe group by the Arizona Association for Retarded Citizens and names TARC as the "outstanding local member unit" of AARC in the state. At left, in other activity at the May brunch, incoming TARC vice president Sue Immer is presenting Mrs. Pat Ohlin with a check for $1,000 to assist the Ohlins with their Sunny Day Home in Tempe for handicapped children. And watching all the proceedings are (from right) Elliot Gory, school psychologist for Tempe Elementary School District Three and a guest at the brunch; and new TARC president Ruth Beer.
