DescriptionSummer means heartache for Tempean, Tempe Daily News, April 1, 1985 - A pot of gold in the form of a lot more volunteers like Lori Lerdall, right, is what Tempe Red Cross Branch Manager Ele Maudsley, left, would like to add at the end of her rainbow. A volunteer office aide, Lerdall is part of an all-volunteer crew which carries out Tempe's Red Cross programs and that crew dwindles drastically in the summer months, though the need for service never slows down.
