DescriptionGrass Fire-Tempe Daily News-June 30 1977

The dry heat makes empty lots in the city fire hazards during the summer months, and Wednesday was a prime example. Fire officials said a grass fire in the 2200 block of South Roosevelt spread to a vacant house. They said the blaze caused $500 damage to the structure. Here an unidentified fireman douses the lawn with water. A fire spokesman said the house belonged to a Glendale man, Charles Saylor.
