DescriptionFrom a photograph caption appearing in Tempe Daily News, Tuesday, November 8, 1977:

Poppy Days -

Members of Tempe's Bob Finch Post and Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, have been gathering poppies - but not from the garden. The veterans and their ladies will be selling artificial poppies, made by disabled veterans in VA hospitals in the US, to help the living while remembering the dead who have served their country in time of war. Getting ready for Buddy Poppy Days, set Thursday through Saturday, are (l to r) Bernie Schmidt, poppy chairman; Post Commander Cal Lasher; Auxiliary President Georgia Tenberg; Auxiliary poppy chairman Carol Beauperlant; Auxiliary co-chairman Darlene Schroeder and (not pictured) Post co-chairman Bill Toner.
