DescriptionNewly appointed Tempe Fire Chief William A. Hayes checks out his domain at Fire Station No. 1 on East University. Hayes became only the second chief in Tempe's paid fulltime Fire Department's 16-year history. A member of the department since 1966, he succeeds William Hanna, who founded the Tempe Fire Department and retired last year.The film negative of this photograph is housed in box 2G7-F.
