DescriptionLarge photograph album with plastic sleeves full of originals and copies of photographs, originals and copies of newspaper articles, as well as captions and summaries of specific photographs and incidents written by the donor. The history of the Tempe Fire Department is summarized from 1871 - 1966 in an October 1977 newspaper article included at the beginning of the album, with the album itself focused on events and history of the Tempe Fire Department from 1902-1960. Articles and/or photographs include the 1902 train wreck on the Tempe Bridge badly injuring Frank Goodrich, a Tempe fireman along with photographs and articles on Tempe Fire Chiefs from 1904 - 1960, photographs and articles on various fire department trucks and vehicles, and many fire incidents including Tempe Union High School Fire, in 1955, Payne Training School Fire in 1956, many house and apartment fires during these years. The first half of the album is focused on the individual Tempe fire chiefs and their families with the later half of the album focused on fire incidents.
