DescriptionLarge binder on the history of the Tempe Fire Department 1976-1979, divided into those 4 years, with a final section on the Fire Department Work schedule in 1979. The binder is focused on the career of Ralph Blanton, the donor's husband, as well as life as a fireman, their families and community life. The binder contains originasl and copies of photographs and newspaper articles related to the Tempe Fire Department personnel, fire incidents, rescues, car accidents etc. Notations were made by donor and major events include:
-1976: Tempe Hardware building fire on Mill Ave., Rural Elementary School set on fire, Paramedic Services instituted
-1977: "Save-A-Life" Program started, resignation of Bill Hanna, Home Fire Safety Program started
-1978: Firefighter Gerald Morrell sues Tempe; Mo Par Building fire, Tempe agrees to keep volunteer firemen
-1979: Two 6-story apartment buildings fdestroyed,fFire complex arson, Baseline and College
