DescriptionFrom a photo caption appearing on Page A12 'Applause' section of the Tempe Daily News, Saturday, September 21, 1985:

Phone friends are just ducky - Sue Lefebvre, right, executive director of the Association for Supportive Child Care, couldn’t say no to a feathered friend who answered the agency's call for volunteers for its Phone Friend program. For youngsters at home alone after school because their parents work, the program provided someone to call for a bit of companionship, help in a crisis or advice for solving problems like 'my little brother has locked himself in the bathroom and won't come out'. Lefebvre and Karl Major, left, who gives his time every afternoon to be a Phone Friend, were joined by the ducky Phone Friend in manning the lines as the program expanded from Tempe to valley wide operation last week. Phone Friend's number is 253-9099.
