Even as new and larger music venues opened away from Mill Avenue in the 1960s, downtown remained the epicenter of Tempe’s entertainment. The Hayden’s Ferry Arts & Crafts Fairs hosted by the Mill Avenue Merchants Association brought big crowds downtown for handmade crafts, mom-and-pop shops, and local bands like this trio playing on 4th Street.
