DescriptionAs a youth, 2019 City of Tempe Diversity Award winner Chloe Penner became involved at Desert Palm United Church of Christ in Tempe, and noticed that participants in the I-Help program left in the morning without any food for the day. She suggested youth come in the day before and prepare a sack lunch, which the -IHelp participants now receive as a regular part of the new and improved routine. Chloe has been a regular volunteer at the I-Help program, preparing food and socializing with the program participants. She goes out of her way to sit down and have a one-on-one with I-Help graduates to learn more about how the church can be more helpful, often taking the lead with new ideas. In her volunteerism, Chloe has interacted with a wide variety of people of many different cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, welcoming and assisting all. Individual Youth AwardStatus
