DescriptionProfessional portrait of Tempe's first mayor, Dr. Fenn John Hart, seated outside near a body of water on a stone bench with a large boulder behind it, and what appear to be workers carrying large rocks in the background. Dr. Hart is seated next to his wife Rosa Ann Brown Hart (1870 - 1936), he is wearing a Stetson hat, a white undershirt and suitjacket, a black tie, pants and boots. His facial hair consists of a trimmed dark mustache and short beard with sideburns that are turning white. Mrs. Hart is wearing a dark hat with a feather in the cap, a dark ankle-length dress with a white blouse underneath and dark shoes. The photo is undated, but based on Dr. and Mrs. Hart's appearance in relation to other family photos, it was likely taken circa 1900.
