DescriptionJournal entry dated Jan. 4, 1885 of Dr. Fenn J Hart, Tempe's first mayor, regarding his medical observations of the mentruation cycles of females in the Arizona climate, as well as his observations of indigenous customs related to a female's first menstruation cycles. The journal entry was made during Dr. Hart's time as physician, surgeon and school director for the indigenous tribes at San Xavier Mission near Tucson from 1884 - 1887.
