DescriptionFrom a photograph caption appearing in Tempe Daily News, Friday, April 7, 1978:On His Way - Tempe High School senior Phil Williams, a biking enthusiast, is one of 10 candidates for appointments to the Air Force Academy nominated by Congressman John Rhodes. But while he's waiting for word on the outcome, he's planning alternatives, working at Motorola under the THS Professional Internship Program, participating in THS band and orchestra - and doing a lot of bicycling. "I'd like to be in the scientific field," says Phil, "but I'd also like to do something to help mankind. I think it's what the world pretty much needs right now- people who want to apply for the technology we have to help society."
