DescriptionFrom a photo caption appearing in Tempe Daily News, August 15, 1978:Happy With 'This Old House' - Leonard Monti, owner of Tempe's most famous "old house" - La Casa Vieja - says that popular restaurant's "overnight success" took 22 years! But "I never cease to be grateful for what's happened to me here," he adds. La Casa Vieja was once the home of Charles Trumbull Hayden, founder of Hayden's Ferry which later became Tempe. And it was the birthplace of Tempe's most famous native, the late US Senator Carl Hayden.
