The first paper has a brief statement, which reads: "We, the volunteers of the Tempe Historical Museum, worked in 1996 to preserve tangible aspects of Tempe's past; to involve the community in telling the story of Tempe's history; and to assist members of the community in learning more about Tempe's history.
