DescriptionThis is a cottage style chair with curved front legs and two curved stiles from foot to crest. The front stretcher is flat and concave and mortise and tenon joints attach it to the legs. The two side and back stretchers are plain and doweled to the legs and stiles. The seat frame is comprised of four pieces of wood which are screwed to the stiles at the back. The seat is made of cane and underneath there are two metal brackets attached to the seat and stiles with screws. The bottom rail is scalloped and attached to the stiles with mortise and tenon joinery. There are five vase-ring-ball and cup turned spindles attached to the bottom and crest rail with are doweled joints. The crest rail is scalloped and joined to the stiles with mortise and tenon joints.
